WADESBORO - The life of Ecolia Ann Marshall Gainey began on June 19, 1959, in Wadesboro, NC. She departed her earthly life on Saturday, December 21, 2024, at Pruitt Health in Rockingham, NC.
She was the daughter of the late Bessie Love and the late Wilbert Marshall.
A woman of faith, she accepted Jesus Christ as her Savior and was a faithful member of The Church of God of Prophecy in Morven, NC under the leadership of Pastor Iris Tillman.
Ecolia attended Bowman High School and for many years worked with Cuddy Farms, with the egg farm and in Home Health Care.
To know her was to love her. She had a welcoming and accepting heart and never met a stranger. She loved everyone, especially her family and friends.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William “Ed” Gainey, her brothers, Bill Love, Sylvester Love and Wilbert Marshall and by her sister, Sallie Lindsey.
Those who are left to cherish her memory are her children, Felicia Delacruze, Nerissa Marshall, Elroy Marshall, James McCoy, Jamie (Kadarris) Huntley, Sheketta (Franklin) Wilson, Richard (Kyiara) Richardson, William Gainey, and Marcus (Asia) Gainey; her sisters, Betty (Henry) Owens, Norma (Nathaniel) Liles, Queen (late Leroy) Flowers, and Margetta (Scottie) Simpson.
She also leaves a host of grandchildren which includes two special grandsons, Marquise Liles and Deandre Wilson; great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who she loved dearly.
The family of Ecolia Ann Marshall Gainey acknowledges with grateful appreciation the many kind acts of love and sympathy shown to them during their time of bereavement.
Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Sunday, December 29, 2024 at The Church of God of Prophecy in Morven. Interment will follow in the church cemetery,
There will be no public viewing.
The family is gathering at the home of her daughter on Moore's Lake Road in Wadesboro.
