WADESBORO - Mr. Eddie Hugh Carpenter, 77, died Saturday, August 15, 2015.
Funeral services will be 3:00pm Tuesday, August 18, 2015 in the Chapel of Leavitt Funeral Home with Rev. Jeff Goudelock and Mr. Travis McCollum officiating. Interment will follow in Williams Cemetery in Polkton.
The family will greet friends from 1:30pm until 3:00pm Tuesday prior to the service at the funeral home and other times at the home.
Eddie was born April 26, 1938 in Anson County, NC a son of the late Jodie Silas and Addie Estelle Beachum Carpenter. He was the owner and operator of Eddie Carpenter Logging since 1970.
He was an avid dove hunter and enjoyed gardening. He planted acres of corn to share with his friends and family. He could often be found with any of his 10 dogs, whom he loved, as riding companions.
Surviving are his wife, Carol Hornback Carpenter of the home; his children, Glenda Carpenter (Kevin) McGrady, Tim (Becky) Carpenter and Bud (Emily) Jarrell all of Wadesboro; his grandchildren, Travis (Ashleigh) McCollum of Oakboro, Joshua (Beverly) Gordon of Polkton, Jason Gordon of Centerville, TN, Matt Carpenter and Case Carpenter both of Wadesboro; his great-grandchildren, Colby and Laney McCollum, Brea Deese and Alyssa Gordon.
Also surviving are his brothers and sister, Roy Carpenter, Charles (Jeanette) Carpenter and Betsy Vanhoy all of Polkton and his nieces and nephews and their families.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers and sisters, Howard, John, Jerry and Greg Carpenter, Lucille Horne, Polly Nance and Aileen Martin.
