Born and raised in the Deep Creek area to the late Luther Martin McLaurin and Esther Moore McLaurin Moore, Eleanor lived her entire life in the south-central part of rural Anson County. Her "until death do us part" childhood sweetheart, Charles, took her hand in marriage on August 14, 1954, for shy of 58 years moving her a few country blocks to Cason Oldfield. Charles died in 2012. The duo was dedicated, hardworking and lived a life of service, love, forgiveness, and grace, as exemplary disciples of Jesus Christ.
Eleanor was known as a great cook and baker. She was making pies and cakes for family and friends, through her last weekend.
Her sought-after barbeque mopping sauce became legendary through her active support of the United Methodist Men church organization, raising thousands of dollars for local people with critical needs.
Preceded in death by brother Dan McLaurin, & brother(wife) Jimmy (Mary) McLaurin, Eleanor is survived by her children Michael Williams and Marsha Williams of the home compound. Grandchildren Luke and Cassidy. The apple of her eye, her constant companion from birth, granddaughter Charley Williamson, Wadesboro, NC. Sisters-in-law Kay McLaurin and Gail (Todd) McAfee reside nearby. Also a host of extended family, a great-granddaughter, nieces, and nephews.
