PEACHLAND – On Thursday, June 15, 2023, Mrs. Elizabeth “Lib” Williams Treadaway, 86, passed away peacefully to be with her Lord while her family was at her bedside at Atrium Health Union in Monroe.
There will be a memorial service at 11:00 AM, Wednesday, June 21, 2023, at Peachland United Methodist Church with Rev. Luke Christy officiating. Inunrment will be private in Peachland Cemetery.
The family will greet friends one hour prior to the service at the church on Wednesday and again following the service.
The family welcomes guests at the home of her daughter in Monroe.
Lib was born February 2, 1937, in Anson County, NC one of seven children born to Ray Sanford Williams and Bessie Hasty Williams. She graduated from Peachland High School in 1955 and worked for several years in textiles, having worked at Polkton Manufacturing and Griffin 88.
A woman of great faith, she was a faithful and longtime member of Peachland United Methodist Church where she was active in the ministries of the church including, the choir, children’s ministries, T.A. Graham Sunday school class, and the Lucy Bryant Circle. Her church family was a huge part of her life and remained very special to her even after a period of declining health.
She was also active with the Peachland Fire Department, where she worked during their barbeques and provided her famous poundcake for the plates.
A loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend, left to cherish her memory are her daughter and son-in-law, Samantha and Roger Starnes of Monroe; her grandchildren, Jordan Starnes and Dallas Starnes and wife, Makayla all of Monroe; her sister, Frances Davis of Peachland and her nieces and nephews and their families, all of whom she loved dearly.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Franklin “Frank” Treadaway, and her brothers and sisters, James, Mary, Harold, Ray, Jr. and Everette Williams.
Lib’s family is most grateful to everyone who played a part in her care in recent years and for the visits, cards and flowers shared with her from her family and friends.
Servant of God, well done! Thy glorious warfare's past; The battle's fought, the race is won, and thou art crowned at last.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Peachland United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 330, Peachland, NC 28170.
