Ellen M. Harrison

MORVEN - Thursday July 19, 2021, this world became less bright as Ellen M. Harrison passed into the arms of the Lord. She was the sunshine for many and was loved to the moon and back an infinite amount of times. There is not enough electronic space that can describe the pages of her life as it was full and her nature gentle, generous and kind.

Her loving heart allowed her to care for many. But she loved no one more than her only child Amy Leigh Harrison, soon to be son-in law Joe Perez and grand puppies Obbie, Polly, and Piper all of Concord, NC. She loved her husband James L. Harrison, for over 50 years who met her in heaven by preceding her in death in 2012. Her Mother, Martha, preceded her in 1983 and her Father, Robert, in 1973.

Ellen’s career began when she graduated from Morven High School as her class Salutatorian in 1961. Ellen was voted Most Dependable and won several notable awards from the Civitans, Betty Crocker and DAR. She studied and graduated from King’s College in Charlotte, NC where she worked uptown Charlotte. While in Charlotte, she began a career in accounting at JP Stevens. She and her family lived in Statesville NC for over 15 years where she cared for her family and her Mother, Martha. After a change of location, returning to her original home in Morven, she was a weigh master at Old Castle Mining (formerly WR Bonsal) in Lilesville for 25 years. The friends and co-workers she gained through-out her working life out number the loads she weighed!

She will be laid to rest in a small private service, due to the rise and continued Covid risks. Following the service, her interment will be next to the church that held her heart all her life, Sandy Plains UMC in Morven NC. As she has found rest, heaven has gained her well earned and radiant light.

All your prayers are appreciated. Her daughter asks that any contributions honoring Ellen be made to Sandy Plains or your local Hospice in her name.
