Polkton - Mrs. Ellen Henry, 75, died Sunday, July 14, 2013, at her daughter's home in Monroe. Funeral services will be 11:00AM Thursday in Leavitt Funeral Home with Rev. David Shoemake and Rev. Carl Fosdick officiating. Interment will follow in Pleasant Hill Cemetery, McFarlan, NC. The family will greet friends 6:00 to 8:00PM Wednesday at the funeral home. Ellen was born February 2, 1938, in Roanoke, VA, a daughter of the late Isaac and Allie Dalton Boyd. She was married to the late Robert Lee Henry Jr. and was preceded in death by a brother, Lundy Elswick; a sister, Dorothy Lackey; and a granddaughter, Crystal Goodnight. Survivors include her children, Carolyn Goodnight Hudson of Kannapolis, Sherry (Larry) Kendall of Monroe, George Shelton of Norwood, Debbie Shelton of Peachland, Pam (Neil) Brown of China Grove; four grandchildren; a sister, Mildred Galloway of Rosman, NC; and two very special friends, Judy Taylor and Mary Rorie. Leavitt Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
