Ellis Hart Cowick

Wadesboro - Mr. Ellis Hart Cowick, 84, passed away on Monday, April 25, 2016, at Meadowview Terrace surrounded by his loving family. A celebration of Ellis life will be held 11:00AM Wednesday at First Baptist Church with Dr. Harry Workman and Dr. Eugene Hunsinger officiating. Interment will follow in Anson Memorial Park. The family will greet friends prior to the service beginning at 10:00AM. Ellis was born in Anson County on May 4, 1931, a son of the late Della Cowick Bailey. He was a longtime member of First Baptist Church and a wonderful father who dearly loved his children and grandchildren. Throughout his life, Ellis enjoyed many business ventures including the operation of a hardware store, Cowicks Contracting Inc. for 23 years, and more recently a landscape/lawn maintenance business. A very generous man, Ellis was the kind of person who gladly helped people as he could, though he never wanted any credit for his actions. Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Troyene Harrington Cowick of the home; three sons, Danny Cowick of Marshville, Dwayne Cowick (Willie Mae) of Carnesville, GA, and Doug Cowick (Pam) of Rockingham; a daughter, Rhonda C. Sessions (Mike) of Rockingham; five grandchildren; and 7 great-grandchildren.
