Wadesboro - Ernest 'Pug' Alvin Turner, 84, fought his last battle with family by his side on April 25, 2014.
He was born on September 29th, 1929 in Anson County, N.C to the late Luther Thomas and Maggie Gregory Turner. Ernest, known to many as 'Pug', served in the U.S. Marine Corps. during the Korean Conflict and was granted a Purple Heart for being wounded in battle. He later went on to join the Merchant Marines and the State D.O.T where he retired from both.
A strong-willed and courageous individual, Pug valiantly overcame many struggles in his life. He was a true example of strength and will be missed by the ones who loved him most.
He is preceded in death by his parents, 3 sisters, and 1 brother. He is survived by 1 sister, numerous nephews, nieces, great nephews and nieces and cousins. Cremation has taken place and a private memorial service will be held at a later date.
