WADESBORO - Mrs. Ethel Parker Smith, 96, died Wednesday, May 7, 2014 at Ambassador Health and Rehab.
Funeral services will be 4:00pm Saturday, May 10, 2014 in the Chapel of Leavitt Funeral Home with Rev. Jimmy Knotts officiating. Interment will follow in Anson Memorial Park.
The family will greet friends one hour prior to the service on Saturday at the funeral home.
Ethel was born September 21, 1917 in Marlboro County, SC a daughter one of ten children of the late Judith Boysworth Parker and the late Benjamin Franklin Parker. She worked for more than 40 years at Wade Manufacturing having been a weave room instructor.
Surviving are her sons and daughters-in-law, Larry E. Smith of Wadesboro, Harry L. and Janet Smith of Lugoff, SC and Linda Smith of Wadesboro; her daughter and son-in-law, Avis and Denver Hampton of Huntersville; her grandchildren, Steven Smith of Charleston, SC, Jeffery Smith and Leigh Knotts both of Lugoff, SC, Susan Barringer of Mooresville, Karen Hunt of Huntersville, Kim Gathings of Hope Mills and Brandon Smith of Wadesboro; 10 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild.
In addition to her parents and 9 brothers and sisters, she was preceded in death by her husband, Eugene Bennett Smith, a son, Don Smith and a granddaughter, Donna Smith.
The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to Dr. Victoria Rommel and the staff of Ambassador Health and Rehab for their patience and attentive caring given to their mother while she was in their care.
