WADESBORO - Mr. Everett Alan Baker, 74, died Tuesday, November 1, 2016 at Carolinas Healthcare System Anson. Funeral services will be 11:00am Friday, November 4, 2016 at First Baptist Church with Rev. Dr. Harry Workman and Mr. Ken Goins, CLP officiating. A private interment will follow in Eastview Cemetery. The family will greet friends one hour prior to the service in the parlor at the church. Alan was born July 15, 1942 in Anson County, NC and was a son of the late Everett Edmond Baker and the late Sally Huntley Baker. He was President of the Wadesboro High School Class of 1960 where he excelled in sports.He was a 1964 graduate of North Carolina State University with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering, where he played baseball. He worked for a number of years for Duke Energy, Michelin Tires in Norwood and was the owner and operator of Anson Well Drilling. Alan faithfully attended First Baptist Church, Wadesboro. Surviving are his wife of 52 years, Mary Anne Pate Baker of the home; his sons and daughter-in-law, Kirk Baker of Concord and Glenn and Lisa Baker of Salisbury; his grandchildren, Chaz Hill of Peachland, Alexis Baker and Weston Baker both of Matthews, Jeanna Jones of Charlotte and Chase Thompson of Salisbury; his sister, Bettie Huntley of Pinehurst; his sisters-in-law and brother-in-law, Carolyn Baker of Cheraw, SC, Merle Baker of Indian Trail, Tommy and Linda Pate of Lilesville and Betty Pate of Ansonville. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Roderick, Hugh and Frank Baker. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First Baptist Church, P.O. Box 423, Wadesboro, NC 28170. The arrangements are in care of Leavitt Funeral Home.
