Faye Kantner Gathings

LILESVILLE - Mrs. Faye Kantner Gathings, 61, died Friday, January 6, 2017 at Hospice Haven in Rockingham. Funeral services will be 11:00am Tuesday, January 10, 2017 at Gum Springs Baptist Church with Rev. Steve Hill and Rev. Jimmy Knotts officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will greet friends one hour prior to the service Tuesday at the church. Faye was born October 1, 1955 in Scotland County, NC and was a daughter of the late Alva Mae Mauldin Kantner and the late Earl Leroy Kantner. She had worked for a number of years at Walmart in Wadesboro and was the sexton for Gum Springs Baptist Church for many years. She was a member of Gum Springs Baptist Church. Surviving are her husband, Robert L. Bobby Gathings, Jr. of the home; her son, Michael Gathings of Lilesville; her brother, George Kantner of Wadesboro; 10 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Brian Lee Gathings and brother, Donald Kantner. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Leavitt Funeral Home, P.O.
