LILESVILLE - On Sunday, August 18, 2024, Mr. Floyd Franklin "Frankie" Newton, Jr., passed away peacefully at home to be with his Lord and Savior.

Funeral services will be at 3:00 PM on Sunday, August 25, 2024, at Faith Baptist Church with Rev. Rick Eason, Rev. Donnie Helms and Rev. Chuck McKnight officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

The family will greet friends from 6:00 PM until 7:30 PM, on Saturday, August 24, 2024, at Leavitt Funeral Home in Wadesboro.

Frankie was born July 8, 1960, in Anson County, NC, and was a son of the late Rev. Floyd Franklin Newton, Sr. and the late Johnnie Faye Freeman Newton. He was a faithful member of Faith Baptist Church.

At the age of 16, Frankie started driving trucks, his first being a bread truck, leading to a long career in truck driving. He and his wife owned and operated Floyd Newton Trucking until their retirement at which time they turned the business over to their sons. Although his health was declining, he was able to make one more trip to Florida on July 9 of this year. He loved being on the road and driving trucks.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 37 years, Norma Monroe Newton; his children, Matthew Wayne Newton (Lynn) of Wadesboro and Mark Franklin Newton (Jennifer) and Bobby Floyd Newton both of Lilesville; 10 grandchildren; 1 great-grandchild; his sisters and brother, Judy Newton, Janet Hinson (Jeff) and Ron Newton (Angela) all of Lilesville and his nieces and nephews and their families.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Crystal Gail Newton, and by his brother, Douglas Newton.

Frankie was a strong believer in Christ and faithful to his church. He was always willing to help others in need and would give the shirt off his back for someone. Many times while on truck driving trips, he would often notice a homeless person and make sure they had something to eat.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be to Faith Baptist Church, 3520 Stanback Ferry Ice Plant Rd., Wadesboro, NC 28170.
