The following obituary is being shared as a courtesy to the family of Mr. Frank Dennis Dunlap, Jr., a long-time and well-respected employee of the Wadesboro Post Office. Wadesboro - Mr. Frank Dennis Dunlap, Jr., 54, was born Octoer 24, 1962 in Charlotte, NC. He passed away on Friday, June 23, 2017. He was the eldest son of Frank and Nannie Ruth, he attended Independence High School. After graduating from Independence, Frank enlisted in the U.S. Marines. He served 4 years from 1980 to 1984 and was honorably discharged. During his enlistment, he received the Rifle Marksman Badge, Humanitarian service Medal, Marine Corps Expeditionary Medal, Meritorious Unite Citation and the Sea Service Deployment Ribbon. After being discharged from the Marines, Frank worked for over 30 years with eh U.S. Postal Service. He started in the Charlotte facility then transferred to the Wadesboro facility, his last post. Frank was preceded in death by his father, Frank Dennis Dunlap, Sr. He is survived by his mother, Nannie Ruth; his sisters, Ann (Billy) and Cynthia (Marvin) of Charlotte, NC; his brothers, Pierre of Raleigh, NC, Ken and Rick of Charlotte, NC; his children, Denzel Howie and Damon Avent of Charlotte, NC; his uncle, Elijah 'Buck' Coxe, Jr. (Catherine) of Wadesboro, NC; his aunt, Eliza Gaddy of Charlotte, NC; his nephews, Chris Hopkins, Jarrett Hopkins and Sir Dennis Morrow of Charlotte, NC and Jamaari Dunlap of Raleigh, NC; his niece, Chantal Morrow of Charlotte, NC; his great-nephew, Malachi Shipp of Charlotte, NC and a host of cousins, family and friends. Frank enjoyed playing songs on his guitar from his favorite 1970's artists like Parliament Funkadelic and Bootsy Collins. Frank was loved by all and greeted everyone with an engaging smile and friend personality. He will be missed by all who knew him. Funeral services will be held at 2:00PM Saturday, July 1, 2017, at Greater Vision United Methodist Church in Huntersville, NC. Visitation will begin at 1:00PM. Burial will follow at Northlake Memorial Gardens. Arrangements are being handled by Boston Mortuary in Charlotte, NC. There will be a memorial service at 3:00pm, Saturday, July 8, 2017 in the Chapel of Leavitt Funeral Home in Wadesboro.
