Frank McLendon

Mr. Frank McLendon, 96, died Thursday, November 24, 2011 at Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte. Services will be 11:00am Thursday, December 1, 2011 in the Chapel of Leavitt Funeral Home with Rev. Harlie Sturdivant officiating. Interment will follow in Westview Memorial Park. Frank was born January 23, 1915 in Anson County, NC a son of the late Alex and Lily Little McLendon. He had worked as a sawmill operator, tended the cattle on the Wayne Lee Farm and later worked for Toloram Fibers in Ansonville. He was a member of Red Hill Baptist Church and attended Faithful Zion Church in Ansonville. He was preceded in death by his wife, Irene Smith McLendon, April 13, 2011. Surviving are his daughter, Virginia Mae Bennett of Balitomore, MD; his granddaughters, Gennie Bennett and Irene Elizabeth Bennett; his great-grandchildren, Melanie, Crystal, Alize' and Isiah; his sister-in-law, Mary Tom Smith; his brother-in-law, Rev. Harlie Sturdivant and his nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews and their families. The arrangements are in care of Leavitt Funeral Home.
