WADESBORO – Mr. Fred Bernard Phillips, Jr., 74, died Thursday, August 5, 2021 at Wadesboro Health and Rehab in Wadesboro.
Fred was born May 17, 1947 in Richmond County, NC and was a son of the late Fred Bernard Phillips, Sr. and the late Helen Louise Anderson Phillips.
He was a 1966 graduate of Hamlet High School and a veteran of the United States Marine Corps. He worked for many years as a truck driver, having worked for Howard Lisk Trucking and Max Kendall Trucking.
Surviving are his children, Crystal Jean Phillips (Lindsey Hathcock) of Wadesboro, Angela T. Gurley (Szhon) of Clarendon and Chris Phillips (Lori) of Wingate; his grandchildren, Krista Elizabeth Phillips (Shamara) of Hamlet, Jonathan Kyle Phillips (Nicole McLain) of Arlington, TX, Alex Walsh of Polkton, Ryan Phillips (Meredith Younger), Devin Phillips, Riley Hyatt and Marta Hyatt all of Wingate and Dana Williams of Wadesboro; his great-granddaughter, Kyristen Graham – Purcell of Hamlet; his sister, Marsha Bruton (David) of Hamlet; his nephew, Johnny A. Johnson of Hamlet and his canine companion, Odie.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Becky Jean Hooks Phillips and by a granddaughter, Kaylen L. Phillips.
There will be a memorial service at a later date.
