Freddie Mr. Singleton, Sr

Freddie Singleton, Sr. departed this life on Friday, February 27, 2015 at the Ambassador Health and Rehab Center of Wadesboro, North Carolina due to declining health (dementia and diabetes). Freddie was born in Sumter, South Carolina on July 25, 1926 to the late David and Mary Hennicks Singleton. He was preceded in death by his wife, Ada Ford Singleton, and his brother Matthew Singleton. He is survived by his sister Suzanna Odom Harrison of Florence, South Carolina. Freddie Singleton joined the army at a young age and was a World War II veteran. During his working life he was a truck driver and traveled all over the United States and Canada. Freddie was well-known and well-liked among his fellow drivers. His original birth name 'Friendly' fittingly described his personality. Freddie lived by the motto 'Everybody is Somebody' which greatly influenced his children. Freddie Singleton accepted Jesus Christ as his personal Savior and was a long-time member of First Baptist Church on Sikes Avenue in Wadesboro, NC. He regularly attended service although he was hearing-impaired. His family believes he learned to read lips. In 1948 he married Eva Solomon and to this union was born six (6) children: Mary, Freddie Mae, Freddie, Jr., Evelyn, Joanne and Sandra. Later he married Ada Huntley Ford and was like a father to her son Charles and grandfather to Charles's children, Sheila and Charles, Jr. Freddie Singleton will live forever in the memory of his family: Children - Mary Craft (Anthony), Freddie Mae Bennett (Albert, Sr.), Freddie Jr., Evelyn Brown, Joanne Singleton-Price (Ulysses), and Sandra Singleton; Grandchildren - Frederick Singleton, Latrice Lyons (Antoine), Albert Bennett Jr. (Mary), LaSaundra Brown, Antoine Craft, Felicia Brown, Kevin Craft, Johnathan Price, and Nathaniel Price. And he will be remembered by Charles Ford, Sr. (Carol), Sheila Freeman (Gary) and Charles Ford, Jr. His great-grandchildren, whom were a special delight to him, will have the misfortune of not having their grandfather in their lives. Acknowledgments The family thanks his long-time neighbor Mr. Jasper Marshall for his sincere friendship, his church members Keith and Queenie Lee for their Christian guidance and aid, and Angela Rorie for her love and dedication to their dad. The family also thanks anyone who shared in a personal way the Word of God to increase his understanding of God's will. Above all the family is forever grateful to the Father of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ for His grace and mercy in welcoming their father into eternal rest and joy. They look forward to meeting him in glory. 'Everybody is Somebody' ' For if there come unto your assembly a man with a gold ring, in goodly apparel, and there come in also a poor man in vile raiment; And ye have respect to him that weareth the gay clothing, and say unto him, Sit thou here in a good place; and say to the poor, Stand thou there, or sit here under my footstool: Are ye not then partial in yourselves, and are become judges of evil thoughts?' James 2:2-4
