Gary Eugene Mr. McCormick

LILESVILLE - Mr. Gary Eugene McCormick, 65, died Wednesday, December 12, 2012 at Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte. There will be a memorial service with military honors at 3:00pm Sunday, December 16, 2012 in the Chapel of Leavitt Funeral Home with Rev. Steve Hill and Dr. Robert Hunter officiating. The family will greet friends one hour prior to the service on Sunday at the funeral home. Gary was born April 6, 1947 in Anson County, NC a son of the late Duke Durham and Margaret Farley McCormick. He owned and operated Gary's Mobile Home Service, was a veteran of the United States Army, having served during the Vietnam War and attended Gum Springs Baptist Church. Surviving are his wife of 44 years, Anne Watts McCormick of the home; his son and daughter-in-law, Ken and Buffy McCormick of Monroe; his daughters and son-in-law, Cathy McCormick and John Sewell and Taylor Wheeler McCormick both of Lilesville; his step-daughter and step-son-in-law, Tracey and Tippy Leary of Peachland; his grandchildren, Little Ken, Liz, and Gracin McCormick, Caleb Sewell, Lauren Johnson, and Brittany and Lacey Leary; his brother and sister, Bob McCormick of Wadesboro and Kay Martin of Chesterfield, SC; his brother-in-law and sister-in-law, George 'Bubby' Watts, Jr. and Claudia of Amelia Island, FL and his sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Hannah and Mickey Wilson of Mint Hill. Also surviving are special friends, Jimmy 'Red' Britt, Steve Whitlock, James Dean, Lynn Brooks,Charlie McCormick, Coy Deberry and James Robinson. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Judy Edwards and by his father-in-law and mother-in-law, George and Lib Hannah Watts. Gary will always be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend. He enjoyed collecting things and spending time with his buddies at Whit's Convenience Store in Lilesville.
