Gay Helms Mrs. Bowers

PEACHLAND - Mrs. Gay Helms Bowers, 79, died Saturday, July 25, 2015 at her home. Funeral services will be 11:00AM, Monday, July 27, 2015 at Hopewell United Methodist Church with Rev. Paul McClure and Rev. Heyward Morrison officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will greet friends from 6:00pm until 8:00pm Sunday, July 26, 2015 at Leavitt Funeral Home, Wadesboro and other times at the home. Gay was born March 4, 1936 in Anson County, NC a daughter of the late John Frank and Rosa Faulkner Helms. She attended the Anson County Schools and was employed with Anson County Hospital for 20 years. A member of Hopewell United Methodist Church for more than 50 years, she was a faithful member of the choir. She was well known and well loved by all who knew her. Surviving are her sons, Chuck Bowers and Derrick (Denise) Bowers both of Polkton and Darryl (Kristin) Bowers of Charles Town, WV; her grandchildren, Brittney, Derika, Drake, Seth and Caleb; her sister, Loretta Burr of Sumter, SC and her sisters-in-law, Margie (Tom) Baucom, Mollie Bowers and Julia Ann Bowers all of Peachland. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Curtis Bowers, sisters and brothers-law, Ann (Paul) Adcock, Moon (Junior) Phillips, Margie Deese, Carol Burr, Baxter Bowers and Jackie Bowers.
