NORWOOD – On Monday, September 16, 2024, Mrs. Gay Dutton Taylor, 67, passed away peacefully at Carolinas Continue Care Hospital in Charlotte.
Funeral services will be 6:00 PM Friday, September 20, 2024, in the Chapel of Leavitt Funeral Home.
The family will greet friends one hour prior to the service on Friday at the funeral home.
Interment will be 11:00 AM Saturday, September 21, 2024, at Hopewell Methodist Church Cemetery in Peachland.
Gay was born March 22, 1957, in Anson County, NC and was a daughter of the late Milton Eulas Dutton and the late Katherine Louise Seago Dutton. She attended Anson County Public Schools and graduated high school from Oak Hill Academy.
She earned her degree as a Licensed Practical Nurse from Anson Technical College and later earned her degree as a Registered Nurse from Central Piedmont Community College. She had a long career in health care, first working as a nurse in the emergency department at Anson County Hospital then working in regulatory support at the hospital. Following her retirement from Anson County Hospital, she worked with hospice in Stanly County.
Those who are left to cherish her memory are her husband of 48 years, Tommy K. Taylor; her sons, Seth Taylor and wife, Sarah of Indian Land, SC and Jason Taylor of Norwood; her grandsons, Jack and John Taylor; her sister, Joy Dutton of Raleigh; her niece, Katie Gilstrap of Raleigh and her sisters-in-law and brother-in-law, Agatha Loveless of Peachland, Pam Morton and husband, Buddy of Norwood and Cecil Taylor and wife, Pat of Charlotte and many close friends too numerous to mention.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Samaritan’s Purse, PO Box 3000, Boone, NC 28607 or to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
