Wadesboro - Mrs. Gennie Adams Baker, 84, passed away peacefully at her home on Saturday, May 23, 2020.
Gennie was born November 11, 1935 in Chesterfield County, SC and was a daughter of the late Ben Tillman Adams and Mattie Hunter Adams. She worked for a number of years at Wade Manufacturing and was most known for working alongside her husband as co-owner and operator of The Anson Diner in Wadesboro.
She was a member of Cathedral Baptist Church.
Surviving are her children, Shelby Goodwin, Angela Beck, Sandra Carpenter (Robert) and Tony Baker (Denise) Baker all of Wadesboro, Peggy Treadaway of Lilesville and Melicia Dennis (Leslie) of Polkton; 8 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren.
Also surviving are her sisters, Shirley Stroud (Jim) of Charlotte, Carlene Stroud (David) of Concord and Annie Lang of Chesterfield, SC.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Wilson Hollis Baker, her son, Randy Baker, her granddaughter, Autumn Lynn Dennis and her sister and brothers, Dot Cook, John D. Adams, Bernice Adams, Clyde Adams and James Adams.
Funeral services will be 3:00pm Tuesday, May 26, 2020 in the Chapel of Leavitt Funeral Home with Rev. Randy Swaringen and Rev. Ronnie Stewart officiating. Interment will follow in Anson Memorial Park.
The family will greet friends one hour prior to the service on Tuesday at the funeral home and other times at the home.
Due to COVID 19 restrictions, the mandate of social distancing will take place during both the visitation and funeral service.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made at Cathedral Baptist Church, 1215 Old Lilesville Rd., Wadesboro, NC 28170.
