Wadesboro - Mr. George Clay Dutton Sr. passed away on June 13, 2016, at Hospice of Union County in Monroe, NC.
A memorial service to commemorate his life will be held at 11:00AM Thursday in the Long Pine United Methodist Church. The family will greet friends following the service.
George was born in Anson County on February 8, 1940, a son of the late Floyd Greene and Gladys Leonard Dutton. He graduated from Deep Creek School and was retired from the N.C. Department of Transportation. For many years George was an active member of the Anson Rescue Squad.
Survivors include a son, George Clay Dutton Jr. (Tina) of Fuquay-Varina; a daughter, Karen Sissy Hartsell (Brad) of Locust, NC; four grandchildren, Ryan Dutton, Destiny Hartsell, Stephen Diggs, and Amanda Diggs; three great-grandchildren, Hilary, Edward and Jacob; and one sister, Edna Jarman of Wadesboro.
In addition to his parents, George was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Adams Dutton.
