George Houston Hildreth

George Houston Hildreth, Jr., age 95 of Cedar Hill, passed away Monday, May 23, 2016 at Anson Health and Rehabilitation in Wadesboro, NC. Memorial services will be 3:00PM Saturday, June 11, 2016, in Cedar Hill United Methodist Church. Visitation will be following the service in the church's Fellowship Hall. Mr. Hildreth was born in Anson County on July 23, 1920. He was preceded in death by his father, George Houston Hildreth, his mother Glennie Couick Hildreth, his wife of 70 years, Lina Springer Hildreth, his brothers William Harris Hildreth, Edward Donald Hildreth, Charles Raymond Hildreth, his sister Marjorie H. Hendley, grandson Troy R. Hildreth and son-in-law Henry W. Little. Mr. Hildreth is survived by his son, George W. Hildreth (Joyce), daughters Mary H. Brammer (John M.) and Cynthia H. Little, grandchildren Adrienne Hildreth, Steven Hildreth, Catherine Hildreth, David Brammer (Rita), Marc Brammer (Michelle), Dan Brammer (Jennifer), Carly Little Ricketts (Heith), Holly Little-Zywiol (Doug) and great-grandchildren Carson Walters, Coleman Walters and William Brammer. Mr. Hildreth served in the 67th Fighter Squadron of the U. S. Army Air Corps during World War II with the rank of Staff Sergeant when the war ended. Mr Hildreth was a a builder, carpenter, woodworker and craftsman. He was a longtime member of the Cedar Hill United Methodist Church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Cedar Hill United Methodist Church, c/o Nancy Hanna, 10546 US Hwy 52 N., Wadesboro, NC 28170. Leavitt Funeral Home of Wadesboro is in charge of arrangements. Online condolences may be made at www.leavittfh.com.
