Glenda Carpenter McGrady

POLKTON Mrs. Glenda Carpenter McGrady, 60, died peacefully at her home on Wednesday, November 21, 2018. Funeral services will be 2:00pm Monday, November 26, 2018 in the Chapel of Leavitt Funeral Home with Rev. Jeff Goudelock officiating. Interment will follow in Williams Cemetery in Polkton. The family will greet friends from 3:00pm until 5:00pm Sunday, November 25, 2018 at the funeral home and other times at the home of her mother in Wadesboro. Glenda was born May 18, 1958 in Anson County, NC a daughter of Carol Hornback Carpenter and the late Eddie Hugh Carpenter. She was a graduate of Southview Academy and attended Wingate University. She worked for a number of years Brown Creek Correctional Institute in Polkton and later worked with Alltel Wireless Communications as a Senior Wireless Representative and later as a Retail Sales Consultant with AT&T Wireless. Glenda was an excellent pianist and taught piano for a number of years. She shared her gift of music by serving as church pianist for a number of churches in Anson County. Surviving are her husband, Kevin McGrady; her mother, Carol Carpenter of Wadesboro; her sons and daughter-in-law, Travis Walker McCollum and Ashleigh of Oakboro, Joshua Lewis Gordon of Polkton and Jason Lee Gordon of Paris, TN; her grandchildren, Colby Brooke McCollum, Laney Michelle McCollum, Alyssa Lynn Gordon and Brea Grace Deese; her brothers and sisters-in-law, Timothy Edward Carpenter and Becky and Bud Jarrell and Emily all of Wadesboro and her nephews Matt Carpenter and Case Carpenter both of Wadesboro. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Judes Childrens Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or to Williams Cemetery Fund, c/o, Becky Wallace, P.O.
