MORVEN - On Sunday, November 12, 2023, Mr. Glenn Hart Chewning, 69, went to be with Lord and Savior while being cared for at McWhorter Hospice House in Monroe, NC.
Services will be 11:00 AM, Wednesday, November 15, 2023 by the graveside at New Hope United Methodist Church Cemetery. The family will greet friends following the service.
Glenn was born May 5, 1954 in Anson County, NC and was a son of the late Joe Hart Chewning and the late Kate Lewis Chewning. He was a graduate of Bowman High School and received an associates degree from Cheraw Technical Institute, now Northeast Technical College.
He was a long-time member of New Hope United Methodist Church in Morven. He loved his Lord dearly and Southern Gospel Music.
Those left to cherish his memory are his daughter, Lisa Chewning; his sisters-in-law, Helen Chewning of Wadesboro and Beverly Chewning of Chesterfield, SC; his nieces and nephews and their families and close family friends.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara Griggs Chewning and his sister and brothers, Betty Jo Davis, Tommy Chewning, Bruce Chewning and Robert "Frosty" Chewning.
Glenn's family is most grateful to the staff of McWhorter Hospice House and Hospice of Union County for all that was done for him over the past weeks.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to McWhorter Hospice House, 700 W. Roosevelt Blvd., Monroe, NC 28110 or to the charity of the donor's choice.
