PEACHLAND – On Sunday, October 9, 2022, Mrs. Gloria Schott Kiker, 71, passed away peacefully to be with her Lord and Savior while a patient at Novant Presbyterian Hospital in Charlotte.
Funeral services will be 11:00 AM Wednesday, October 12, 2022, at Harmony Community Church with Rev. Rocky Carpenter and Rev. Ronnie Sullivan officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will greet friends following the service in the church fellowship hall.
Gloria was born December 2, 1950, in Olean, NY and was a daughter of the late Robert Schott and the late Kathryn Hartley Schott McCarley. She worked in western wear retail sales, having worked at Horseplay, Streets of Laredo and Lebo’s.
She was a part of Harmony Community Church, where she had been a member of the choir and was active with the kitchen committee, providing meals for bereaved families, vacation bible school, and other needs among the church family.
Gloria loved to travel. She and her husband enjoyed camping and horseback riding. She had participated in rodeos and barrel racing.
Those left to cherish her memory are her husband of 39 years, Jimmy Kiker; her son and daughter-in-law, William Scott Salley and Cindy of Charleston, SC; her grandson, Wyatt Lane Salley of Charleston, SC; her stepfather, Bob McCarley of Indian Land, SC; her sisters and brother, Rita Schott Brindle-Diggs and husband, Larry of Newton, Julie Schott Taylor and husband, Bo of Shelby, Kathy Schott of Abbeville, SC and Bobbi Lynn McCarley and Bill McCarley both of Indian Land, SC and her nieces, nephews and cousins and their families.
Gloria will be remembered as one who knew that it was more blessed to give than to receive and she always put others before herself.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved granddaughter, Kayla Faith Salley.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Harmony Community Church, P.O. Box 138, Peachland, NC 28133.
