Grover Preslar

POLKTON Mr. Charles Grover Preslar, 84, died Sunday, September 23, 2018 at Hospice of Union County in Monroe. Funeral services will be 3:00pm Wednesday, September 26, 2018 in the Chapel of Leavitt Funeral Home with Mr. Ebbie Vaughn officiating. Interment will follow in Griffin Cemetery. The family will greet friends one hour prior to the service on Wednesday. Grover was born May 19, 1934 in Anson County, NC a son of the late Thomas Franklin and Bessie Ellen Preslar. He worked for 60 years in road and highway construction, having worked with the Dickerson Group in Monroe and retiring at age 75 from McWhirter Grading in Mint Hill. Surviving are his children, Dean Preslar (Pam) of Indian Trail, Terri Ronzo (Joe) of Salisbury, Becky Jones of Marshville, Chuck Preslar (Robin) and Joel Preslar (Betty) both of Polkton; 10 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren and his brother and sister, Ray Preslar of Thomasville and Betty Yandle of Monroe. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Mickie Cranford Preslar; a son, Tommy Preslar; and sisters and brothers, Rose McWhirter, Pearl Rushing , Vera Tweed, Ernest Preslar and Walter Preslar. The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to Hilary Block and the staff of Meadowview Terrace Assisted Living and to Hospice of Union County, Kim, Monica and Jan along with the staff of the McWhorter Hospice House in Monroe for the care they gave Grover.
