H.A. Dennis

Wadesboro - Mr. H.A. Dennis, III, age 94, died Wednesday, May 17, 2017, at the Hospice House of Union County in Monroe, NC. Funeral services will be 11:00AM Saturday in Olivet United Methodist Church with Rev. Richard Buff officiating. Interment with military honors will follow in the church cemetery. The family will greet friends from 7:00 to 9:00PM Friday at Leavitt Funeral Home. H.A. was born in Anson County on February 6, 1923, a son of the late H.R. and Pearl Rorie Dennis. Educated in local public schools, H.A. was a lifelong farmer except for the brief period of time he spent serving his country during WWII in the US Marine Corps. He was married to the late Sybil Lowe Dennis and was very proud of his family. Survivors include four children, Audrey Stegall of Peachland, Jeanette (Thurmond) Vaughn of Mt. Airy, Claude Dennis of Wadesboro, and Shirley Dennis of Liberty, TN; 15 grandchildren, Jennifer (Bryan) Morton, Joy Stegall, Jessica (David) Swanner, Leland Stegall, Rhonda (Ray) Grant, Chris Vaughn, Adam (April) Vaughn, Cee Jay (Brian) Reece, Chad Dennis, Sally (Kevin) Knopp, Susan (Shane) Thuleen, Benji (Melissa) Horne, Candy Dennis, Shannah (Matt) Hutto, Gina (Scott) Haymaker; and 20 great-grandchildren. Also surviving are two sisters, Martha Goodwin and Wilma Dennis both of Lilesville, a brother, Lindbergh (Brenda) Dennis of Liberty, TN, and two sisters-in-law, Christine Dennis and Joyce Dennis both of Lilesville. In addition to his wife, H.A. was preceded in death by three brothers, Harding Dennis, Julian Dennis, and Everette Dennis. Memorials may be made to Hospice of Union County, 700 W.
