Harold William Mr. Meland, Jr

WADESBORO - Mr. Harold William Meland, Jr., 90, died Thursday, April 7, 2016 at his home. Funeral services will be 3:00pm Sunday, April 10, 2016 in the Chapel of Leavitt Funeral Home with Rev. Teddy Lawson officiating. Interment will follow in Anson Memorial Park. The family will greet friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home Sunday and other times at the home. Harold was born August 8, 1925 in Harvey, IL a son of the late Harold William Meland and the late Anna Martha Buell Meland. He was a licensed electrical contractor and was a co-owner of Smith Electrical, having worked as an electrician for 45 years. He was a member of First Baptist Church, Wadesboro where he served as a Deacon, a member of the Chancel Choir and former Boy Scout Leader. He was a veteran of the United States Army. Surviving are his wife of 48 years, June Starling Meland of the home; his children, Dawn Meland (Tim) Cook of English, IN, Kevin (Kristie) Meland of Rincon, GA, Tim (Rhonda) Watts and Donna Meland (Doug) Paul both of Wadesboro and Sharon Meland (Bret) Boyer of Unionville; his grandchildren, Stacy Malary of Washington, DC, Patrick (Stephanie) Malary of Youngsville, Ryan (Kristina) Watts of Monroe, Miranda Paul and Brandon Paul both of Wadesboro, Justin Jenkins and Kaitlyn Meland both of Rincon, GA and Emma Boyer of Unionville; his great-granddaughter, Reagan Meland of Youngsville; and his brothers, Doug Meland of Spring Valley, CA, David Meland of Dunedin, FL, Greg Meland of Yorktown, VA and Britt Meland of Oceanside, CA. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Camilla Grider, brother, Ronnie Meland and sister, Betty Moore. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of Union County, 900 W. Roosevelt Blvd., Monroe, NC 28110. The arrangements are in care of Leavitt Funeral Home.
