Wadesboro - Mr. Harold Eugene Trexler, 79, died Friday, January 06, 2017, at Ambassador Health and Rehab.
Funeral services will be 2:00PM Tuesday at Leavitt Funeral Home with Mr. Ken Goins, CLP, officiating the service. The family will greet friends before the service beginning at 1:00PM. Entombment will follow in Anson Memorial Park.
Born in Anson County on September 12, 1937, Harold was one of eleven children born to the late George W. and Kate Redfearn Trexler. He was retired from Wade Mfg. with many proud years of service. Among his hobbies, Harold counted two greater than the others - gardening and cooking! There are some who believe that it was his love of eating that led him to being such a good cook. In the garden, Harold was as good as they come. He always enjoyed a large garden to go with a well-kept yard. He could root and grow anything he could get his hands on and frequently did. He took great pride in the shrubs and bushes in his yard as he produced many of them from mere cuttings.
Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Melda Trexler of the home; four step-children whom he considered his own, Dan Edwards of Tabor City, Ted Edwards of Oak Island, Rodney Edwards (Angie) of Myrtle Beach, SC and Joy Brooks (David) of Wingate; 8 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and his sister, Shirley T. Harward of Wadesboro.
Harold was preceded in death by nine of his brothers and sisters, Catherine Flake, Virginia Burr, George Robert Trexler, Johnsie Baker, Walter Glenn Trexler, Hugh Trexler, Joe Trexler, Betty Deese, and Jimmy Trexler.
Memorials may be made to Ambassador Health & Rehab Activities Department, 2051 Country Club Rd., Wadesboro, NC 28170; or to First Presbyterian Church, 208 S. Greene St., Wadesboro, NC 28170.
