WADESBORO - Another Child of God has gone home...Mrs. Hattie Mae Morrison Bailey, 92, died Thursday, March 5, 2015 at Richmond Pines Nursing Home in Hamlet. Funeral services will be 2:00pm Sunday, March 8, 2015 in the Chapel of Leavitt Funeral Home with Rev. Randy Swaringen officiating. Interment will follow in Eastview Cemetery. The family will greet friends from 6:00pm until 8:00pm Saturday, March 7, 2015 at the funeral home and other times at the home of her daughter in Lilesville. Hattie Mae was born February 12, 1923 in Darlington County, SC a daughter of the late Benjamin Newton and Eva Ozella Kelly Morrison. She was retired from Wade Manufacturing Company with 42 plus years of service and was a member of Cathedral Baptist Church. Surviving are her children, Judy (Allen) Skipper of Lilesville and Jimmy Bailey of Wadesboro; her grandchildren, Janet Jordan of Chesterfield, SC, Jerald Polson, Jr. of Cheraw, SC, Christopher (Joanna) Polson of Belgum, Jennifer (Dean) Carpenter of Rockingham and Stephanie (Travis) Putnam of Leland; 12 great-grandchildren; and her brothers and sister, Rev. Hayward (Martha) Morrison of Shelby, Gary (Carolyn) Morrison of Rockingham and Christine (Harding) Dennis of Lilesville. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Rev. J.T. Bailey, Sr., daughters, Infant Hattie Rebecca Bailey, Infant Betty Ann Bailey and Troyene Bailey Polson and brothers and sisters, B.W. Morrison, Jackie Morrison, Dewey Morrison, Mildred McInville and Nancy Hardin. Hattie Mae will be remembered as a woman of great faith who shared her gifts of singing and teaching with many churches in Anson County. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Richmond County Hospice, 1119 N US HWY 1, Rockingham, NC 28379 or to Cathedral Baptist Church, 1215 Old Lilesville Rd., Wadesboro, NC 28170.
