Hazel was born September 9, 1942 in Stanly County, NC a daughter of the late William Baxter Hartsell and the late Rebecca Emiline Harvell Hartsell. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church.
She was a well-noted crafts maker and freelance seamstress in Anson County for more than 50 years. She provided sewing and mending clothes for relatives, friends and anyone who heard of her work through word of mouth. She enjoyed the creation and repair of articles of clothing for others. She was a master of the fading art of "making do with what you have".

Surviving are her children, John Morris and wife, Gloria of Virginia Beach, VA, Joann Faulkner and husband, Wesley of Peachland, and Jack Morris of Wadesboro; her daughter-in-law, Judy Morris of Wadesboro and her grandchildren, Beverly Dry and husband, Hank of Locust, Jade Morris of Virginia Beach, VA, Matt Morris and Jason Morris both of Wadesboro, Dale Morris and Daniel Morris both of Albemarle and her step-grandchildren, Emma Faulkner and husband, James of Decatur, GA and Evan Faulkner and wife, Jessica of Norwood.
