Hazeline Diggs Bennett

WADESBORO - Mrs. Hazeline Diggs “Boss” Bennett was born January 10, 1924 in Anson County, NC and was a daughter of the late Dawsey Diggs and the late Alice Little Diggs. Our beloved mother and grandmother was called home to be with the Lord on Thursday, October 24, 2024 at UNC Medical Center in Chapel Hill, NC.

Mother Bennett accepted Christ at an early age and was a member of West Deep Creek Missionary Baptist church, where she served faithfully on the Usher Board.

She worked for many years with Grace Senior Center in Wadesboro as an in home caregiver. 

Mother Bennett would tell everyone she came in contact with that she loved them and would be praying for them.

Even at the age of 100, she enjoyed working in her yard and growing beautiful flowers. She remained active all her life.

She was united in Holy Matrimony to Odom Bennett and to this union four children were born.

She was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother and those who are left to cherish her memory are her son, Andrew O. Bennett; her daughter, Sheila Rorie (Bernard); her grandchildren, Faith Bennett, Walter Richardson, Verlo Bennett and Jeffrey Garris; her 4 great-grandchildren; a special friend, Richard Simmon and a host of other relatives and friends.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two children, Carolyn Bennett and Odom Bennett, Jr.

Funeral services will be 2:00 PM, Monday, November 4, 2024 at West Deep Creek Missionary Baptist Church. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

The public viewing will be from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM Sunday, November 3, 2024 at Leavitt Funeral Home.

The family is gathering at the home on White Store Road in Wadesboro.

The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be given to the family.
