LILESVILLE - Ella Helen Lamm Ingram, 88, died Sunday, December 27, 2015 at Carolinas Medical Center-Union in Monroe, NC. Helen was born September 27, 1927, in Franklin County, NC, the eldest daughter of the late Joseph Edmond Lamm and Ovie Cooper Lamm. Following graduation from Atlantic Christian College (now Barton College) in Wilson, NC, Helen began her career as a public school teacher in the Lilesville, NC schools. She became a confirmed Anson County resident when she married Thomas Jeremiah 'Jerry' Ingram on December 20, 1950. Helen retired from the Anson County School System as a high school English teacher. After Jerry's death on April 2, 2002, Helen experienced declining health; however, a team of caregivers including Modestine Gatewood, Sharon Liles, and Kim Allen provided unwavering care that assured the best possible quality of life for her. Helen's sister, Josi Venus Lamm Finch, and brother, Phillip Adrian Lamm, preceeded her in death. Surviving siblings are Bobby Lamm of Newport News, VA, Thelma Lamm of Williamsburg, VA, Andrea Hildreth of Virginia Beach, VA, Fred Lamm of Hesperia, CA, E.C. Lamm of Castalia, NC , and Brenda Lamm of Raleigh, NC. A number of nieces and nephews also survive. Services will be 1:20pm Sunday, January 3, 2016 by the graveside in Savannah United Methodist Church Cemetery with Rev. Kaye Fry officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Savannah United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 452, Lilesville, NC 28091 or the Anson County Historical Society, 206 E Wade St, Wadesboro, NC 28170.
