WADESBORO - Mrs. Mary Helen McCarty Lee, 92, died Friday, February 27, 2015 at Anson Health and Rehab in Wadesboro. Funeral services will be 2:00pm Tuesday, March 3, 2015 in the Chapel of Leavitt Funeral Home with Rev. Donnie Helms officiating. Interment will follow in Pleasant Hill Cemetery in McFarlan. The family will greet friends one hour prior to the service Tuesday at the funeral home. She was born July 16, 1922 in Jefferson County, Alabama and was a homemaker. Her husband, Avery Henderson Lee preceded her in death. Affectionately known as 'Granny Lee', she is survived by her children, Jessie (Ron) Northcutt of Wadesboro, Ginger (Bob) Stamler of Grand Island, NY, Dorothy (Johnny) Weatherington of Jasper, Barbara (Hugh) Barrow of New Bern, William Lee of Lilesville, Walter Lee of Marshville, Shirley (Frank) Hall of Louisville, KY and Avery Lee, Jr. of Wadesboro; 9 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren and 10 great-great-grandchildren.
