Henry "Tom" Baucom

Mr. Henry Thomas “Tom” Baucom, age 92, died Thursday July 29th, 2021, at Atrium Health Union in Monroe. Funeral services will be at 4:00 PM on Sunday, August 1st at Hopewell United Methodist Church with Rev. Patrick Ledford officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will greet friends at the church one hour prior to the service on Sunday. Tom was born on February 25th, 1929, in Anson County, North Carolina, a son of the late James Thomas and Ella Francis Taylor Baucom. He was a retired brick mason having worked many years with his brother-in-law, Baxter Bowers. Tom was a lifelong member of Hopewell United Methodist Church. He enjoyed wood working and his wife Margie enjoyed painting many of his creations. He also enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and gardening. Survivors include two daughters, Daphne Mullis, and Melody Poteat, both of Peachland; five grandchildren, Mike Mullis, Tommy Poteat, Jacob Poteat, Mandy Almond, and Jennifer Kellogg; six great grandchildren; and a cat named Bill. In addition to his parents, Tom was preceded in death by his wife, Margie Bowers Baucom in 2019, and by his brother Curtis Ray Baucom. The family suggests memorials be made to Hopewell United Methodist Church, c/o Susie McSwain, 424 Pork Rd., Peachland, NC 28133.
