LILESVILLE - Mrs. Ila Williams Streater Hill, 90, passed away peacefully on Monday, May 11, 2015.
Funeral services will be 2:00 pm Thursday, May 14, 2015 at Lilesville United Methodist Church with Rev. Kaye Fry officiating. Interment will follow in Lilesville Cemetery.
The family will greet friends one hour prior to the service at the church.
She was born Ila Grace Williams on April 9, 1925 in Lilesville, NC and was the sixth of seven children born to Johnsie Ann Vaughn Williams and James Robert 'Jim' Williams. She came home from Wadesboro Hospital to their farmhouse near Olivet Church.
Ila married Jasper Streater in 1945 and they had five children together.
She later married Henry Hill in 1985 and they were together until his passing in 2012.
She brought the Community Action Program to Lilesville that helped improve access to resources for all families in the town. She was an active member of Lilesville United Methodist Church and was a member of the United Methodist Women.
She was the first female sales manager for United Family Life Insurance and had a number of 'firsts' in her career. She worked there for 15 years, retiring in 1987.
Ila loved flower gardening and hosting parties for family and friends. She enjoyed travel and won trips from United Family Life Insurance to Hawaii, Spain and Puerto Rico. Her friends knew her as a trusted companion and confidante.
A loving daughter, sister, wife, mother, aunt and friend, Ila will be dearly missed by her children, Dawn Burtt and husband David, Debby Wheeler and husband Jack, and Darlene Streater; by her grandchildren, Jon Gates, Jessica Fogarty, Amanda Burtt, Emily McMahon, Gregory Moore, Helena Turner and Ben Streater; by great-grandchildren, Greyson Gates, Lily Turner, Stone Turner, Easton Turner, Clara Moore, Zoe Moore, Brandon Streater, Chloe Streater, Jasper Streater, and Amelia McMahon; by nieces and nephews and their families; and by many good friends.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Henry Hill, children, Danette Streater and Johnny Streater, and by her siblings.
