WADESBORO Mr. William Jackson "Jackie" Baker, III, 54, died peacefully on Friday, March 16, 2018 at Anson Health and Rehabilitation Center in Wadesboro.
Funeral services will be 4:00pm Monday, March 19, 2018 in the Chapel of Leavitt Funeral Home with Rev. Mark Perko officiating. The interment will be private in Deep Creek Church Cemetery at a later time.
The family will greet friends one hour prior to the service and again following the service.
Jackie was born July 25, 1963 in Anson County, NC a son of William Jackson "Joe" Baker, Jr. and Brenda Carter Baker. He was a 1983 graduate of Bowman High School and a devoted Carolina Tarheel fan, as well as, a member of Deep Creek Baptist Church.
Surviving are his parents, W.J. Joe" and Brenda Baker of Wadesboro; his sister and brother-in-law, Angie and Troy Martin of Albemarle; his niece, Haley Martin of Albemarle and his aunts and uncles, Richard (Joan) Baker of Stallings, Paul (Shirley) Carter of Lilesville, Edna Baker, Rev. D.W. Carpenter and Sarah Frances Baker all of Wadesboro and his great-aunt, Lib Lear of Wadesboro.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Fredrick Baker and his grandparents, Eugene and Minnie Bunn Carter, Will and Nezzie Chewning Baker and Mollie McManus Baker.
The family would like to express their heartfelt appreciation to the staff of Ambassador Health and Rehab, formerly, Heritage Hills Nursing Home for their loving care they showed to Jackie while he was their resident for 22 years and most recently to the staff of Anson Health and Rehabilitation where he has been a resident for the past 3 years. The family will always be grateful for the love shown to him and the friendships made.
