POLKTON - Mr. Jackie Lee Bowers, 85, died Thursday, July 4, 2013 at his home.
Services will be 2:00pm Sunday, July 7, 2013 by the graveside in Rocky Mount Church Cemetery.
The family will greet friends Saturday, from 5:00pm until 7:00pm at Leavitt Funeral Home in Wadesboro.
Jackie was born February 28, 1928 in Anson County, NC a son of the late Martin Albert and Fannie Lee Thomas Bowers. Prior to his retirement, he owned and operated J.B. Logging for 49 years and was a veteran of the United States Navy, having served during the Korean Conflict.
Surviving are his wife of 60 years, Julia Baucom Bowers of the home; his sons and daughters-in-law, Danny and Robyn Bowers and Reggie and Cecelia Bowers all of Polkton and Sherrill and Charlene Bowers of Indian Trail; his grandchildren, Marty Bowers of Atlanta, Jaclyn Bowers of Polkton, Joshua Bowers of Peachland, Sam Bowers of Oakboro, Justin (Jessica) Bowers of Wadesboro and Katherine Bowers of Indian Trail; his great-granddaughter, Sadie Bowers of Oakboro; his step-grandchildren, Travis Bobo of Fayetteville, Heather and Josh Bobo both of Charlotte; his step-great-grandchildren, Chandler, Carson, and Chloe Lowder all of Oakboro; his sister and brother-in-law, Margie and Tom Baucom of Peachland and his sisters-in-law, Mollie Bowers and Gay Bowers both of Polkton.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Baxter and Curtis Bowers.
