James Terry Chapman

            MORVEN – On Tuesday, January 9, 2024, Mr. James Terry Chapman, 69, passed away peacefully at his home that he built for his family.

            Funeral services will be 3:00 PM Sunday, January 14, 2024, at Morven United Methodist Church with Rev. Stacey Lundy officiating. Interment will follow in Morven Cemetery.

            The family will greet friends from 6:00 PM until 7:30 PM at Leavitt Funeral Home in Wadesboro.

            Terry was born March 26, 1954, in Darlington County, SC and was a son of the late James Coit Chapman and the late Cleo Elizabeth Keith Chapman. He graduated from Cheraw High School and received an associate degree from Chesterfield Marlboro Technical College.

            He was a master carpenter. He was gifted in cabinetry, roofing and home construction. He enjoyed gardening and was well-known for his large tomato crops and for being a great cook.

            Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of nearly 47 years, Nancy Watson Chapman; his sons, Terry Brandon Chapman of Simpsonville, SC, Alan Tyler Chapman of Morven and Charles Coit Chapman and wife, Brittany Lee Chapman of Blacksburg, SC; his grandchildren, Anna Ruth Chapman, Noah Watson Chapman, J.T. Chapman and Drew Chapman; his sisters and brothers, Jean Parker and Wayne Chapman and wife, Carolyn of Society Hill, SC, Sylvia Acosta and husband, Gary of Hickman, CA and Calvin Chapman and wife, Sharon of Charleston, SC and his nieces and nephews and their families.

            In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters and brother, Infant Elizabeth Chapman, Joyce Allen and Steve Chapman.
