WADESBORO - Mr. James Theodore Evans, 71, died Friday, February 17, 2017 at his home. Funeral services will be 3:00pm Sunday, February 19, 2017 at Fall Branch Baptist Church with Rev. Arnold Jackson officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will greet friends from 6:00pm until 8:00pm Saturday, February 18, 2017 at Leavitt Funeral Home and other times at the home. James was born February 10, 1945 in Anson County, NC a son of the late Lewis Evans and the late Margie Burr Evans. He was a retired heavy equipment operator. He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Mary Burr Evans of the home and his brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, L.W. Shorty Burr, Nick Burr (Evelyn), Tad Burr, Franklin Burr (Carolyn), Martha Morton (Wayne), and Lillie Morton (Roy Steeler); and a number of nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Michael Thomas Evans. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Fall Branch Baptist Church, % Martha Morton, 2122 Ingram Mountain Rd., Lilesville, NC 28091 or to Hospice of Union County, 700 W. Roosevelt Blvd., Monroe, NC 28110. The arrangements are in care of Leavitt Funeral Home.
