WADEBORO - Mr. James Al Harris, 78, departed his life on Sunday, February 28, 2016 while a patient at Carolinas Medical Center Union in Monroe, NC.
James was born January 25, 1938 in Lilesville, NC, a son of the late Al Sylvester Harris and the late Goldie Spencer Harris. He worked in the logging industry as both a chain saw operator and skidder operator until declining health.
He is survived by his daughter, Cathy Harris (Rev. Garrie) Gaddy; three grandchildren, Tiffany Baucom, Gary Gaddy Jr. and Shakasha Gaddy; two great-grandchildren, Malachi Gaddy and Mikiah Gaddy; his brothers, Robert Harris and Terry Harris both of Wadesboro, NC; his sisters, Nellie M. Wilson of Lilesville, Bernice Wall and Mary (Lewitt) Melton both of Wadesboro, NC and Bobbie (Alvin) Patterson of Salisbury, NC; his nieces and nephews, including two with whom he had a very special relationship, Tiffany Harris of Wadesboro, NC and Alexis Lee of Charlotte, NC and a host of other relatives and friends.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Ingram Harris, brothers, Thedo, Alfonza and Tommy Harris and sisters, Eliza Grace, Dorothy Smith and

Funeral services will be 2:00pm Friday, March 4, 2016 at Henry Grove Missionary Baptist Church in Lilesville. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will greet friends 30 minutes prior to the service at the church and other times at the home of his sister, 41 Union St., Wadesboro.
