POLKTON - Mr. James Robert 'Jim' Hill, 76, died Tuesday, February 24, 2015 at Carolinas Medical Center Union in Monroe.
Funeral services will be 11:00am Saturday, February 28, 2015 at Harmony Community Church with Rev. Rocky Carpenter officiating. Interment will follow in Red Hill Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family will greet friends from 7:00pm until 8:30pm Friday, February 27, 2015 at Leavitt Funeral Home in Wadesboro and other times at the home.
Jim was born May 31, 1938 in Anson County, NC a son of the late Joe Hendley and Ruth Polk Hill. He was a veteran of both the United States Coast Guard and the United States Army, was the owner and operator of Jim Hill Sand and Gravel in Wadesboro for more than 40 years. He was a member of Harmony Community Church, where he had served as a trustee.
Surviving are his wife, Sandy Harrington Hill of the home; his children, Robbie (Keelie) Hill of Wadesboro, Renae (Jeff) McCormick of Polkton, Ryan Hill of Lilesville and Brett Hill of Raleigh; his sisters, Peggy Heavener of Myrtle Beach, SC, Ann Munn and Catherine (Smokey) Tyson both of Ansonville and Barbara (Larry) Helms of Marshville; his brother-in-law, Johnny (Dolly) Harrington of Wadesboro; 16 grandchildren; 1 great-grandchild and his nieces and nephews and their families.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers and sisters, Paul, Ralph and Johnny Hill, Sue Brock and Betty Jo Lee.
