Lilesville - Mr. James Harmon Ingram, Jr., 88, died Tuesday, January 5, 2016, at FirstHealth-Richmond in Rockingham, NC.
Funeral services will be 2:00PM Sunday at Leavitt Funeral Home with Rev. Wayne Whitley officiating. Interment will follow in Richmond County Memorial Park. The family will greet friends at Leavitt Funeral Home on Saturday from 6:00 to 8:00PM.
James was born in Chesterfield County, SC on November 4, 1927, a son of the late James Harmon and Elizabeth Brown Ingram. He was proud of his service to his country as a US Army veteran of WWII having served in the Asiatic-Pacific Theater and a participant in the invasion at Okinawa. He was a retired truck driver and member of the Church of God of Prophecy-Wadesboro.
Survivors include his wife of 70 years, Dorothy Hewitt Ingram of the home; children, James H. Ingram of Cheraw, SC, Linda Ingram Turner (Mike) of Ansonville, Amanda Juwan Ingram of Spartanburg, SC, Patricia Ingram Wall (Gene) of Raleigh, and Rita Ingram Tyson of Rocky Mount; 10 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and 3 great-great-grandchildren.
Also surviving is a sister, Geneva Ingram of Laurinburg; a daughter-in-law, Carolyn Ingram of Lilesville; and many nieces and nephews including Libby Pigge. In addition to his parents, James was preceded in death by a son, Samuel Nelson Ingram, a son-in-law, Thurman Tyson Jr., a grandson-in-law, Christopher Carlton Wray; and a great-grandson, Ayden Brooks Jones.
