WADESBORO - Mr. James Barker Jasmin Sr, age 96, of Wadesboro, NC and Aiken, SC died July 8, 2024 at his residence in Aiken, SC.
Mr Jasmin was born in Rutland, VT on January 23, 1928. A son of the late Rolla M. Jasmin Sr, born in Rutland, VT and Iona Bell Jasmin, born in Hardwick, VT. He attended Rutland Schools, later was a veteran of the United States Navy, honorably discharged in 1948. He graduated from North Carolina State University with a BME in 1953. While attending NC State, he was a member of Sigma Alpha Epsilon, NC Alpha Chapter. Jim was also a member of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers.
Jim worked in industrial sales for 32 years, specializing in energy products, mostly in Michigan and Pennsylvania. He held the positions of Sales Engineer and District Manager. In 1981, as International Sales Manager employed with the IMO Pump Division of Transamerica DeLaval, he transferred to the Monroe, NC headquarters. Jim took retirement in 1985.
Following retirement, he worked part-time as Executive Director of the Brandon Area Chamber of Commerce in Brandon, VT. Jim took retirement a second time, in 1992.
Surviving are Jim's three sons, James Barker Jasmin Jr and wife, Deirdre of Atlanta, GA. John Wiley Jasmin and wife, Donna of Aiken, SC, and Wilson Jeffrey Jasmin and wife, Polly of Gastonia, NC. His grandchildren, Matthew and Will Jasmin both of Atlanta, GA. Jennifer Davidson and husband, Conner of Pegram, TN. John Ross Jasmin of Greenville, SC. Jay Jasmin and wife, April of Aiken, SC. McLean and Ted Jasmin both of Raleigh, NC. Emily Tresher and husband, Curtis of Wilmington, NC. Also his great-grandchild Jett Barker Jasmin of Aiken, SC.
Jim is preceded in death by his wife, Mary Jasmin of Wadesboro, NC. Along with his parents, Jim is also predeceased by his three brothers, Rolla M. Jasmin of Rutland, VT, Sidney H. Jasmin of Ballston Lake, NY, and Richard M. Jasmin of Rutland, VT. Also Rolla's wife, Fern, and Sid's wife, Theresa, and Richard's wife, Elizabeth.
Jim's main interest in life was his family. He and Mary traveled often to be with their grandchildren. Nothing was more enjoyable to Jim than family reunions with his children and grandchildren. This in additon to many reunions over the years with Christian friends and neighbors.
James B Jasmin Sr went to be with his Lord Jesus Christ, who forgave all his sins. He is looking toward an eternal reunion with Mary, his wife and best friend for 65+ years.
There will be a memorial service at a later date with interment in Eastview Cemetery in Wadesboro, NC.
