Wadesboro - On Friday, February 4, 2022, James Clinton Little, better known as “Jay” or “JC”, a loving husband, brother and friend passed away peacefully at the age of 86.
Jay was born November 8, 1935 in Wadesboro, nc to Lee Roy Little, Sr. and Estelle Sturdivant Little. He married Catherine Ratliff Little, who preceded him in death and to this union no children were born. In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Mabel Crawford and by his brothers, Perry Little and Lee Roy Little, Jr.
Jay attended school at Nivens School in the Anson County Public School System and went on to work as a mechanic with Carl Baker Company in Wadesboro, Barnhardt Manufacturing in Charlotte and Tyson Foods in Monroe. He was forced to retire from Tyson early, due to a serious injury in 1970. Following that, he did little odd jobs to keep him busy.
Jay had a heart of gold and was generous to a fault. He could build or fix anything. He was known for his neatness, his house was so clean, you could eat off the floors. He also kept a neatly cut yard and you couldn’t find a blade of grass in the large garden that he planted year after year for his family and community. He was a sporty dresser and “mean” cook in the kitchen. He always had a smile on his face and ended every sentence with, “But the Good Lord.”
He is survived by a very special sister, Lee Ester Love, who was not only a sister, but a friend and mother figure to him that he loved, adored and depended on; his sisters, Dora Little of Wadesboro, NC and Linda (Carl) Waring of Indian Trail, NC; his brothers, Rev. Freddie (Mamie) Little of Wadesboro, NC, William (Madgie) Little of Wadesboro, NC, James Charles (Rainey) Little of Morven, NC and Eddie (Louisa) Little of Wadesboro, NC, and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family at Wadesboro Health and Rehab and friends in the community.
Funeral services will be 11:00 am Wednesday, February 9, 2022, at Cedar Creek Missionary Baptist Church with Rev. Freddie Leak officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
Public viewing will be from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm Tuesday, February 8, 2022, at Leavitt Funeral Home.
The family is gathering at the home of his sister, Lee Ester Love in Morven.
