WADESBORO - Mr. James Addison Russell Martin, 82, died Sunday, October 13, 2013 at his home. Funeral services will be 2:00pm Thursday, October 17, 2013 at First Baptist Church, Wadesboro with Dr. Robert Hunter, Jr. officiating. Entombment will follow in Anson Memorial Park Mausoleum. The family will greet friends Wednesday, October 16, 2013 from 6:00pm until 8:00pm at Leavitt Funeral Home and other times at the home. Jim was born March 4, 1931 in Anson County, NC a son of the late Jasper and Annie Russell Martin. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister and brothers, Aileen Gray, Jasper 'Jap', Nelson, Will Tom, and Ray Martin. He was the owner and operator of Martin Furniture Company in Wadesboro, a member of Wadesboro Civitan Club, was an airplane pilot and member of the Comanche Club. Jim's faith and knowledge of God's word was very important to him and was a member of First Baptist Church, Wadesboro where he was one of the teachers of the Special Interest Sunday school class. Surviving are his wife, Peggy Carpenter Martin of the home; his children, Theresa Blue and husband, Dr. John Blue of Sanford, James Addison Martin, Jr. of St. Petersburg, FL, Steven Thomas Martin and Sheila Ann Martin both of Charlotte, Tammy Teal Bennett of Myrtle Beach, SC and Micah Teal of Wadesboro; 7 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. Also surviving are his sisters, Lillian Carpenter of Polkton, Elizabeth Horne of Peachland and Nancy Lovette of Wadesboro. Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church, P.O.Box 423, Wadesboro, NC 28170 or to the charity of the donor's choice. The arrangements are in care of Leavitt Funeral Home.
