Peachland - Mr. James Clinton Nance, 86, died suddenly on Sunday, March 5, 2017, at Autumn Care Nursing Center in Marshville.
Funeral services will be 2:00PM Wednesday at Hopewell United Methodist Church with Rev. Jeremiah Johnson officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will greet friends in the church prior to the service beginning at 12:30PM.
Born in Anson County on December 9, 1930, Clinton was the last of four children born to Marvin Fulton and Mary Letha Rogers Nance. He grew up in the Hopewell community and had many good friends there but was called into the US Air Force following WWII and served during the Korean Conflict. Following his discharge, Clinton went to work handling freight for Eastern Airlines and worked there for over 30 years before his retirement.
Survivors include his only son, Jeff Nance (Teresa) of Matthews; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Also surviving is a brother, David Nance (Willie) of Harrisburg; a sister, Louise Thomas (Bob) of Peachland and a sister-in-law, Mildred Nance of Wadesboro.
In addition to his parents, Clinton was preceded in death by his daughter, Rhonda Kaye Nance and a brother, Lamar Nance.
