WADESBORO - Mr. James Edward Terry, 90, died Thursday April 19, 2012 at Presbyterian Hospital in Charlotte.
Funeral services will be 3:00pm Sunday, April 22, 2012 at the Chapel of Leavitt Funeral Home with Dr. Robert Hunter, Jr. and Dr. Fred Senter officiating. Interment with military honors will follow in Anson Memorial Park.
The family will greet friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home Sunday and other times at the home.
James was born April 10, 1922 in Richmond County, a son of the late Elisha Clay Terry and Irene Gibson Terry. He was retired from the Allen Bennett Grocery Supply and following retirement worked a CMC Building Supply in Cheraw, SC.
A faithful member of First Baptist Church, Wadesboro, he was a member of the Baraca Sunday School Class and a veteran of the Untied States Army, having served during World War II. He was honored to participate in the Veteran's Day Parade and Celebration in 2011.
Surviving are his wife of 70 years, Rosa Lee Hubbard Terry of the home; his daughters and sons-in-law, Ann and Dr. Jimmy Sims of Polkton and Gilda and Benny Galliher of Wadesboro; his grandsons, Benny, Jr. and Deborah Galliher of Charlotte and Chris and Amy Galliher of Sanford; his great-grandchildren, Trey, Zuri, James and Brandon; his brother and sister-in-law, Francis and Johnsie Terry of Norwood and his sister, Margaret Houle of Statesboro, GA.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a grandson, Stan Sims and by his brothers and sisters, Fred Terry, Clay Terry, Jr., and Lena Russell.
James was a kind and caring man because he lived his life daily by God's golden rule.
