MORVEN - Mrs. Jane Plyler Steagall died on Wednesday, December 3, 2014 at Carolina's Health Care Anson in Wadesboro, after an extended illness.
She was born on October 2, 1931 to the late Elbert and Lela Plyler of Misenheimer, NC.
Jane and her beloved husband, Bill, were married for 56 years at his death in 2011. Their children are Beth Christenbury and her husband, David, of Mooresville and William Steagall and his wife, Susan, of Wadesboro; grandson, Wes Steagall and Ashley Steele, and great granddaughter, Catie Steagall, all of Wadesboro, also survive. Jane and Bill's granddaughter, Catherine, preceded them in death in 2005.
Other surviving family members include Jane's brother, Jim Plyler, and his wife, Alice, sister, Jo Stoker, and sister-in-law Celeste Wall, as well as several nieces and nephews.
Jane was a graduate of Women's College (UNC-Greensboro) with a degree in Home Economics. She taught at Morven High School for one year prior to marrying Bill and settling into their home in Morven to raise their family. As a dedicated team, Jane and Bill were active in their church, schools, and community. Jane was a great cook and seamstress, but she shined brightest as a wife and a mom to many.
There will be a service to celebrate Jane's life at 2:00PM, Friday, December 5, 2014 at Morven Presbyterian Church with Mr. Ken Goins, CLP officiating. The family will receive friends following the service in the church fellowship hall.
