Wadesboro - Mrs. Janice Surratte McRae, 78, died peacefully at her home surrounded by her family on December 24, 2016.
A celebration of her life will be held at 2:00PM Tuesday, December 27, 2016, at First Baptist Church with Dr. Robert Hunter officiating. The family will greet friends at the church prior to the service beginning at 12:30PM in the downstairs parlor.
Born June 19, 1938, in Anson County, Janice was a daughter of the late Glenn and Margie Morton Surratte. She graduated Lilesville High School and attended Flora McDonald College. Janice was a wonderful homemaker, substitute teacher and longtime employee of Anson Community College where she retired. She was also a faithful member of First Baptist Church.
Survivors include her husband, Tom McRae III of the home; four children, Dean McRae of Norwood, Lynn Turner (Paul) of Wadesboro, Bryan McRae of Charlotte, and Dale McRae of Wadesboro; six grandchildren, Cole McRae, Morgan McRae, Paul Turner (Rebecca), Mariah Turner Scott (Kyle), Alan Dale McRae, and Kathryn McRae; and one great-grandchild, Khi McRae.
Also surviving are her brothers and sisters, Margaret Beaver of Matthews, Wayne Surratte (Hazel) of Monroe, Warren Surratte (Betty) of Cheraw, SC, Vivian Maree (Claude) of Wadesboro and Sara Smith of Wadesboro.
The family is extremely grateful to Janice's very capable caregivers, Jackie Little and Emma Jean Cash.
